I am looking to buy a loose diamond for 250 _ 0.79cts G color pear shape and i wanted to see if this is a good investment _ would i be able to resell with a profit

Without even considering the issues of color (G is the best of the mid-class, when you get into the D-E-F range the prices jump), and clarity (which is crucial, and you haven’t mentioned it), I can tell you that a pear-shaped stone is less desirable and therefore a tougher sell. The round brilliant cut is by far the most popular and easiest to sell.
You absolutely need to know the clarity. If you can get a GIA-certified stone of this size, even if pear-shaped, with a clarity of VS2, you’d be stealing it. But if it’s an I-quality stone, I wouldn’t touch it. A .79 carat SI1 would be a pretty good buy at $250, but I would absolutely want it certified with paperwork, not someone’s word.
The GIA cut scale applies ONLY to round stones, so cut quality is less of an issue. If the color and clarity are GIA certified, cut isn’t an issue at all on a pear.
