Certified Diamonds
What is the difference between “regular” diamonds and “certified” ones?
I mean… are the “certified” ones worth the extra price?? They cost about double… why is that??
There isn’t anything extra special about certified diamonds, except that they come with the paper.
Certified diamonds are sent off to various Gemology institutes to validate the four “C”s (Color Clarity Carat Cut). Usually, only very high quality diamonds are sent off to be certified. Most jewelry stores won’t send an awful, low-quality diamond to be certified, because it would be certified as “awful and low-quality.”
If a diamond is expensive enough to insure, having it certified is almost always required.
Regular diamonds are graded by individual dealers. So you will have to take their word on the value of a diamond.
